Your prompts are stored locally on your device by default (IndexedDB). They never leave your browser unless you explicitly enable cloud sync. When you enable sync, data is encrypted end-to-end before leaving your device. We cannot read your prompts — only you can.
Yes! PromptAura is a local-first PWA. All core features — saving prompts, organizing folders, tagging, searching, variables, version history — work 100% offline. Cloud sync and AI features require an internet connection, but everything else works anywhere.
You keep everything. Your local data stays on your device. Cloud-synced data remains accessible locally. You just lose Pro features: cloud sync across devices, unlimited AI optimization, team workspaces, and advanced analytics. No data deletion, no lock-in.
Absolutely. We support JSON and Markdown import/export. Many users migrate from Notion, Obsidian, VS Code snippets, or plain text files. The import wizard maps your existing structure (folders, tags, metadata) to PromptAura automatically.
Bring your own keys for: Google Gemini (all models), OpenAI (GPT-4, GPT-3.5), Anthropic (Claude 3 Opus/Sonnet/Haiku), and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The optimizer works with any model that accepts chat completion format.
Similar concept, built for prompts. Every save creates a version with diff view. Free tier keeps 7 days of history; Pro keeps unlimited. You can compare any two versions side-by-side, restore with one click, and branch off to experiment without losing the original.
Pro includes Team Workspaces with role-based access (Admin, Editor, Viewer). Shared folders sync in real-time. You can also publish individual prompts publicly (with anonymous option) to the Community Library. All sharing is opt-in — nothing is public by default.

Any user can publish a prompt publicly. Published prompts are searchable, filterable by tags, and rated by the community. Authors get attribution (or can stay anonymous). It's a great way to discover battle-tested prompts for coding, writing, analysis, and more.
